Covid-19 Restrictions

All WMRL Branches Open

February 15, 2022

All branches of the Western Manitoba Regional Library are open to the public!

However, in recognition of the ongoing health concerns presented by COVID-19, a list of Public Health Orders and WMRL Policies are provided below. Branch hours can be found at the bottom of this page or here.

At all branches of the WMRL, the following guidelines are in place:

  • Browsing the collection is available at all branches, though we still encourage you to keep your visits brief and place items on hold ahead of time if possible. The entire WMRL catalogue is also available to view and browse online through our website.
  • Physical distancing is required.
  • Capacity at all branches is currently limited to 50%.
  • Sanitizing is required upon entrance. Our staff are doing their best to sanitize throughout the day.
  • Masks are required to be worn in all branches by all individuals with an exception for children under the age of five. Patrons will be asked to leave if they are instructed to wear their masks properly on multiple occasions. For anyone unable or find it uncomfortable to wear a mask, we offer online resources and curbside pick-up at most of our branches. Please contact your local library branch ahead of time to arrange. Due to fraudulent exemption cards concerning the use of masks and the risk of exposure to staff and other patrons, we require that all individuals wear a mask when visiting our library branches.
  • Public computers are available at all but our Shoppers Mall branch.
  • Seating is available in all but our Glenboro branch.
  • Patrons exhibiting excessive symptoms linked to COVID-19 may be required to leave the library. Please use the COVID-19 self-screening tool before accessing our public spaces. Please do not enter the library if you are feeling unwell or have recently tested positive for COVID-19.

For specific inquiries about your local branch, please email us at info@nullwmrl.ca, or contact your local branch.

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions about your library during COVID-19:

Book Returns:

All of our Book Returns are open, and library materials will continue to be due for return. We are NOT CHARGING LATE FINES. You will only be charged for overdue materials once they have been overdue for so long that our system marks them as LOST. To renew a book, please phone or email your local branch, or renew it on your online account.

Library Card Expiry Dates:

If your library card has expired and you cannot access online resources, please call the main Brandon number at 204-727-6648 and leave a message with your name, telephone number, and library card number and we will renew your card for you as soon as possible. For more immediate assistance, email this information to info@nullwmrl.ca.

We will continue to renew non-resident memberships for people who live outside of our service area by taking payment information over the phone. Please note that we have reduced our Non-Resident fees to $50 for an annual membership, or $15 for a three-month membership!

Library Card Registration:

To sign up for a library card, please either visit your local branch or simply email your name, phone number, and mailing address to info@nullwmrl.ca or phone us at 204-727-6648. Library cards are free to all residents of the WMRL’s service area.

Online eResources access:

Your library card provides access to a number of electronic resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and movies. Follow this link to the eResources page to sign up for any of these digital services.

To set up an account:

  • Select your library: Western Manitoba Regional Library;
  • Enter the entire 14 digit number on the back of your library card;
  • Enter your PIN (the last four (4) digits of your telephone number on file).
  • Hoopla will also require an email address to set up an account.

If you have difficulty setting up any of these resources or you are unsure if your PIN is on file, please email info@nullwmrl.ca for assistance, or call the main number in Brandon at 204-727-6648 or your local branch.
