Temporary Library Closure

Both Brandon branches of the Western Manitoba Regional Library are closed to the public the week of July 20 – 25 because a Library staff member is awaiting COVID-19 test results. The Neepawa branch is also closed because staff members have recently traveled between the Neepawa and Brandon branches.

“My staff and I have all been following social distancing, hand-sanitizing, cleaning, and other government-recommended health protocols,” director of library services Danielle Hubbard said in a press release yesterday. “Furthermore, the staff member in question does not work directly with the public.”

For these reasons, Hubbard is optimistic that this week’s measures err on the side of caution and that the library will resume operations next week. In the meantime, Library staff are working remotely to respond to phone calls (204-727-6648) and emails (info@nullwmrl.ca).

Due dates are being extended and items on hold will be held until the end of next week. Effective immediately, the Library is no longer charging late fees on overdue items.

“Once COVID is a thing of the past, we’ll make a decision about whether or not to reintroduce late fees,” says Hubbard. “In the meantime, there are too many complications in the world and the last thing people need to worry about is whether or not they’ll receive a $0.10 fine on an overdue book.”

Please note that our Carberry, Glenboro, and Hartney branches are still open as usual this week.

Online eResources access:

Your library card provides access to a number of electronic resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and movies. Follow this link to the eResources page to sign up for any of these digital services.

To set up an account:

• Select your library: Western Manitoba Regional Library;
• Enter the entire 14 digit number on the back of your library card;
• Enter your PIN (the last four (4) digits of your telephone number on file).
• Hoopla will also require an email address to set up an account.
