WMRL COVID-19 Response

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers regarding WMRL Reopening

September 17, 2020

The Western Manitoba Regional Library’s reopening plan is now underway. For more information about the reopening plans of each of our branches, please click here.

In support of public safety, the Western Manitoba Regional Library will continue to require all users to wear a mask in each of our branches. Please bring your own mask, as we do not have enough to supply one to each of our patrons.

Due Dates:

Now that our libraries have reopened, we are once again loaning our materials for the standard four-week period.

Overdue Fines:

The Library is not currently charging fines on overdue items. Once COVID is a thing of the past, we’ll make a decision about whether or not to reintroduce late fees.  In the meantime, there are too many complications in the world and we don’t want our patrons to be worried about whether or not they are accumulating late fees on overdue Library items. Once an item has been overdue for more than a month, our system will mark it as LOST, and you will be charged for the cost of the item at that time.

Book Returns and Quarantining:

We are now accepting returns at each of our branches. We are quarantining returned materials for 72 hours, so items will still show up in your account as “checked out” for a few more days after being returned. If you are unable to return your materials, or you are unsure when they are due, please contact us and we can help you! We are available any time by email at info@nullwmrl.ca, and can be reached by phone at 204-727-6648.

Library Card Expiry Dates:

If your library card has expired and you cannot access online resources, please call the main Brandon number at 204-727-6648 and leave a message with your name, telephone number, and library card number and we will renew your card for you as soon as possible. For more immediate assistance, email this information to info@nullwmrl.ca.

Library Card Registration:

To sign up for a card, please come down to any one of our branches, or do it remotely! Simply email your name, phone number, and mailing address to info@nullwmrl.ca or phone us at 204-727-6648. Now that our branches have reopened, we are once again charging non-resident fees for people who live outside of our service area. Please note that we have reduced our Non-Resident fees to $50 for an annual membership, or $15 for a three-month membership!

Online eResources access:

Your library card provides access to a number of electronic resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and movies. Follow this link to the eResources page to sign up for any of these digital services.

To set up an account:

·         Select your library: Western Manitoba Regional Library;

·         Enter the entire 14 digit number on the back of your library card;

·         Enter your PIN (the last four (4) digits of your telephone number on file).

·         Hoopla will also require an email address to set up an account.

If you have difficulty setting up any of these resources or you are unsure if your PIN is on file, please email info@nullwmrl.ca for assistance, or call the main number in Brandon at 204-727-6648 or your local branch.

Contactless Book Delivery and Pick-Ups

We are still providing Contactless Delivery Services now that our libraries have reopened, though at most of our branches we are only able to offer this service if you self-identify as someone who is at elevated health risk. Please contact your local branch to learn more, or email info@nullwmrl.ca.

We are offering a limited number of public programs virtually this fall. For information on our fall programs, please visit the Events page on our website (https://wmrl.ca/events/), pick up a Program Guide at either of our Brandon locations, or email programs@nullwmrl.ca

Thank you for your understanding.
