WMRL COVID-19 Response

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers regarding WMRL closures

March 25, 2020

Due to increasing concerns regarding COVID-19 all branches of the Western Manitoba Regional Library are closed effective Tuesday, March 17th. We’ll be posting updates to our website at wmrl.ca and on the Western Manitoba Regional Library Facebook page. Additional local information may be available on the Neepawa, Carberry and Glenboro branch Facebook pages.

We’re taking measures to assist our patrons through this trying time and will update the following information as needed.

Due Dates:

All borrowed item due dates will be automatically extended to prevent overdue fines. We won’t penalize our users during these closures. If pre-existing fines are preventing you from accessing our eResources, please contact the Library (204-727-6648 or info@wmrl.ca) and we can work out a solution.

Library Card Expiry Dates:

If your library card has expired and you cannot access online resources, please call the main Brandon number at 204-727-6648 or your local branch and leave a message with your name, telephone and library card number and we will renew your card for you as soon as possible. For more immediate assistance, email this information to info@wmrl.ca.

Online eResources access:

Your library card provides access to a number of electronic resources, including ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and movies. Follow this link to the eResources page to sign up for any of these digital services.

To set up an account:

  • Select your library: Western Manitoba Regional Library;
  • Enter the entire 14 digit number on the back of your library card;
  • Enter your PIN (the last four (4) digits of your telephone number on file). Hoopla will also require an email address to set up an account.

If you have difficulty setting up any of these resources or you are unsure if your PIN is on file, please email info@wmrl.ca for assistance, or call the main number in Brandon at 204-727-6648 or your local branch.

Neepawa: Community Volunteer Income Tax Program

Neepawa Library has temporarily suspended the drop-off/pick-up of Income Tax packages until the library reopens or an alternate location is chosen. Any questions about the program can be directed to Jane at 204-354-2220.

Programming

All programs and events at our branches have been cancelled during the library closures. In addition, all privately booked events using the Brandon Library’s or Neepawa Library’s meeting rooms have been cancelled.

Brandon Contactless Book Delivery – March 25, 2020

We at the Brandon Public Library want to be here for you during our closure in as many capacities as possible while still encouraging social distancing and taking every precaution. We are pleased to announce that we will begin a Contactless Book Delivery service next week (Tuesday, March 30th)!

We will be accepting a limited number of delivery requests each week and requests will be limited to a total of ten items or less (these can be a combination of children’s and adult books, magazines, graphic novels, audio books, etc.). Requests are subject to availability.

Deliveries will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and patrons will be notified of a time window for their delivery in advance.  Once books are dropped off at doorsteps, they immediately become the responsibility of the patron (this includes books that are lost, stolen, or damaged in any way). Any library materials delivered during our closure are to remain with you at home until we reopen, we will ensure that all due dates are adjusted accordingly.

Please keep in mind that these deliveries are to be CONTACTLESS, for the health and safety of both our patrons and library staff. We ask that you remain inside of your home during drop off and wait until our delivery person has returned to their vehicle to come out and retrieve your materials.  Our staff will be following strict guidelines for hand washing and will wear gloves during deliveries; however, it is up to your discretion as to whether you want to receive physical library materials at this time.

Requests for Contactless Book Delivery can be placed via email to info@wmrl.ca  or by calling the library at 204-727-6648.

Please email info@wmrl.ca or call the main number in Brandon at 204-727-6648 or your local branch with any other questions. Email will be monitored throughout the day.

We will return all calls but you must include a telephone number.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Danielle Hubbard

Director of Library Services
