Manitoba Young Readers’ Choice Awards Inc. aims to promote reading and Canadian literature by giving young Manitobans in Grades 5-8 the opportunity to vote for their favourite Canadian book from an annual selected list.

Eligible titles this year are:

  • A boy named queen by Sara Cassidy
  • Born with: Erika & Gianni by Lorna Schultz Nicholson
  • Heart of a Champion by Ellen Schwartz
  • Look out for the Fitzgerald-Trouts! by Esta Spalding
  • Mark of the Plague by Kevin Sands
  • OCDaniel by Wesley King
  • Pandas on the Eastside by Gabrielle Prendergast
  • Prisoner of Warren by Andreas Oertel
  • Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
  • Root Beer Candy and Other Miracles by Shari Green
  • Shooter by Caroline Pignat
  • Slide by Norah Mclintock
  • Sophie Quire and the Last Storyguard by Jonathan Auxier
  • The Inn Between by Marina Cohen
  • The Nameless City by Faith Erin Hicks
  • The Road to Ever After by Moira Young
  • The Skeleton Tree by Iain Lawrence
  • Yellow Dog by Miriam Korner

These titles are nominated based on their quality and reader appeal.  Not all titles may be appropriate for all students in the age range of the MYRCA readership.

Voting for the 2018 MYRCA winner will be open from March 19, 2018 to midnight Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
