Mujer Artista, a Winnipeg-based collective of Latin women artists, is pleased to present Carmen Aguirre in discussion with filmmaker, curator and Mujer Artista member Cecilia Araneda at the Brandon Public Library, Wednesday, May 29, 4 pm - 5:30 pm. This event is free and all are welcome.Born in Chile, Vancouver-based Carmen Aguirre is a theatre artist and author. Her #1 national best seller Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter was winner of Canada Reads in 2012. Its bestselling sequel, Mexican Hooker #1 and My Other Roles Since the Revolution, has been described as a “powerful victory for survivors of abuse.”A core artist of Vancouver’s Electric Company Theatre, Aguirre has also written and co-written over twenty-five plays. She has won multiple awards for her work, has over eighty stage, film and television acting credits and is a graduate of Studio 58. Mujer Artista acknowledges the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Western Manitoba Regional Library for enabling this event to come to Brandon.
