The Western Manitoba Regional Library (WMRL) has a staff of about 30 individuals across its six branches. Positions include Director of Library Services, Manager of Programming & Community Services, Manager of Access Services, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Branch Supervisor, Library Clerk and Student Assistant.

Library Assistant – Brandon

The Western Manitoba Regional Library is seeking an organized, friendly, and creative person to join our staff in the capacity of Library Assistant at the downtown branch and Shoppers Mall branch of the Brandon Public Library. As Library Assistant, you will facilitate educational and recreational events for the library’s patrons.

  • Starting Monday, June 30
  • Ending Friday, August 22
  • 35 hours/week
  • $16.25/hour
  • Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years old, and legally entitled to work in Canada

Summer Student – Library Clerk

The Hartney-Grassland Library is now accepting applications for the position of summer student/Library clerk starting at the beginning of July 2025 for 8 weeks duration. This position is for a guaranteed 15 hours per week with the opportunity to pick up casual shifts throughout the summer.

  • Some flexibility of hours/days worked may be possible and will be discussed with the successful applicant
  • The successful applicant will also be offered the opportunity to run programming on School PD days, Christmas and Spring break throughout the year

Applicants must be:

  • Outgoing and able to work independently or with little supervision
  • Creative and able to plan, promote, coordinate and facilitate engaging programs for the Library for different age groups
  • Able to prepare materials and spaces for programs
  • Able to use computers and have an understanding of other types of technology such as the eResources that the Library uses
  • Able to utilize good customer service skills to assist Library patrons within the Library or on the phone
  • Able to perform basic Library clerk duties, including shelving books, checking out Library materials to patrons, and maintaining Library displays
  • Wage is $16.88 per hour
  • Requirements: Must be 16+, Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada, have a valid social insurance number
