The Western Manitoba Regional Library (WMRL) has a staff of 30 individuals in its five branches.  Positions include Librarian, Administrative Assistant, Branch Supervisor, Library Assistant and Student Assistant.  When we are looking for individuals to join our staff, vacant positions will be posted here and they may also be advertised in external print and online resources.



The Western Manitoba Regional Library is currently seeing an individual to fill a Library Assistant position at its main branch, the Brandon Public Library.  Duties will include general circulation and patron assistance duties, creation of library displays and assisting with programming as required.  Three days per week on an alternating schedule of Monday/Tuesday/Saturday and Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday for a total of 21 hours per week.  There will be an opportunity to pick up additional shifts to cover for other staff members in instances of illness or absence.

Applicants must have a minimum of Grade 12, effective people and communication skills, basic computer and internet skills, creative/artistic abilities, be attentive to detail, thorough and accurate work habits and have the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

The Western Manitoba Regional Library is seeking an individual to fill the role of Branch Supervisor in the Carberry/North Cypress Library. The Branch Supervisor is responsible for programming, community outreach, administrative tasks, and day-to-day circulation and reader’s advisory services. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Attendance at Board/community meetings and library conferences may require additional hours and such attendance is expected when appropriate.

Job requirements include supervisory and organizational competence, strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and computer skills. The development of library programming and outreach will be a priority. The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete a minimum of one course in a library training program within the first year of employment.  The position requires travel to Brandon for the purposes of monthly rotations and occasional meetings; a valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are job requirements.
