North arrives in the publishing world to great acclaim with The Whisper Man. Not only is the novel an effective psychological thriller, it is beautifully and skillfully written. As it explores the theme of fatherhood, it offers a steady drip of genuine terror and insight.
The voices are easily enjoyed in brief chapters that sometimes mull philosophical questions and often unnerve the reader. The reader gets to delve into a perplexing investigation while the characters explore their own and each other’s depths. The most emotionally difficult moments are difficult because we care so much about the characters. All of this is delivered in masterful writing that makes this novel a read that will haunt and inspire (especially fathers) long after its last words.
The Whisper Man is available for borrowing through WMRL as both a physical book and an audio book. Take a look at the catalogue listing here to borrow a copy.
