Community Safety Host Update
Thursday May 26, 2022
The community safety host started her position in the downtown branch of the Brandon Public Library during the first week of May. Her role provides support to patrons who are needing aid in accessing resources in Brandon. Throughout the month of May, she was able to provide appropriate resources and referrals to patrons. Additionally, her new position has allowed flexibility where it expanded the library’s resources to serve the community effectively. She was able to introduce two latest ideas for the library, the safety host Help Desk and the Coffee & Conversation program. The help desk is available during library hours, and Coffee & Conversation is a drop-in service that is available on Fridays for the homeless population to access. See the poster below for more info. The safety host’s primary goal is to create a safe space for the library and hopes her latest projects will be able to do just that.
