Creative Writing Program

Creative Writing Program

  Thursday February 11, 2021

Are you interested in getting started with creative writing, improving your craft or sharing your work? The Brandon Public Library hosts a Creative Writing Program for exactly that. We alternate between weeks spent writing and reading, meeting every other week to share feedback on our works in progress. There are writers who have never written anything before and writers who have been writing for years. It’s crucial for all writers to share their work and get feedback, as our goal is to create an engaging experience for our readers. You can write anything that interests you, from articles to memoirs to short stories.

Your low-pressure accountability to the group may be helpful in becoming consistent with your writing. The group’s meetings are fun, gently challenging and supportive. Technical assistance is available for those who need it.

Our meetings are currently being held virtually. We will host them in person at the library once it is safe to do so.

To inquire or register for the next run of this program, please call (204)727-6648 ext. 9 or email us at programs@nullwmrl.ca

“Collaborative workshops and writers’ peer groups hadn’t been invented when I was young. They’re a wonderful invention. They put the writer into a community of people all working at the same art, the kind of group musicians and painters and dancers have always had.”― Ursula K. Le Guin
