WMRL Little Free Libraries

WMRL Little Free Libraries

  Tuesday July 27, 2021

The Western Manitoba Regional Library is excited to share that we now have four Little Free Libraries installed in public parks around the city of Brandon, as well as one in the Town of Neepawa!

If you aren’t familiar with the concept, Little Free Libraries are free book-exchange boxes that you can find set up in communities around the world. Some are stationed on private property, and others are installed in public spaces like parks. When you come across a Little Free Library, you are welcome to take a book to read OR leave a book for someone else to enjoy. There is no obligation to return books back to the same LFL when you are done, although you are welcome to. Little Free Libraries are sustained by their communities, so while the WMRL will regularly maintain our LFLs and top them up with books, we also encourage everyone to add to them and help them to thrive!

You can find our Little Free Libraries at the following locations:

  • Riverbank Discovery Centre in Brandon (located right off the parking lot near the accessible playground)
  • Rideau Park (located right beside a shaded bench at the intersection of Rideau and Lorne)
  • Kin Park (right across the walking path from the Splash Pad)
  • Coronation Park (at the entrance to the park on 23rd Street)
  • Town of Neepawa’s Lion’s Riverbend Campground
  • The WMRL would like to thank and acknowledge Healthy Together Now, which provided us with grant funding that helped to purchase the Little Free Libraries that are set up in Brandon and Neepawa.
