Summer is over and all of the kids are back in school! It was certainly a crazy summer here at the library and we would like to thank everyone who participated in our various summer programs. So, what is new for fall?!We have added some movies to our collection! These include some newer releases such as Boss Baby, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and A Dog’s Purpose; and some older releases like the Anne of Green Gables Collection, Safe Haven, and A League of their Own. Pop in a check out what else we have.We also just got in a huge armful of shiny new books in both Adult Fiction and Adult Non-Fiction. Some of the newer fiction titles include: Feared by Lisa Scottoline: Book 6 in the Rosato and DiNunzio series; Paradox by Catherine Coulter: Book 22 in the FBI Thriller series; Double Blind by Iris Johansen: Book 6 in the Kendra Michaels series; and In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware: the first book penned by the author of The Lying Game and The Woman in Cabin 10.Fall Contests…Why should kids have all the fun? Try out one or both of our Regional Fall Contests! First we have the Adult Bookmark Contest. Come and pick up a design template at the library and create a bookmark.  This contest is open to library card holders aged 16 and up with the deadline being Friday, December 7th at  6 p.m.Our second Regional Contest is a Short Story and Poetry Contest. Enter an original short story or poem of any style, topic, or theme. Winners will be announced in December and invited to the Brandon Library to read their work in addition to receiving a prize. Short Stories have a 2000 word limit and Poems have a 50 line limit with the deadline being Friday, December 7th at 6 p.m. Contest Guidelines and Entry Forms can be picked up at the Glenboro/South Cypress Library.Locally we bring you the Book Spine Contest. Come up with an original poem or phrase using only the spines/titles of books. The only rules are that you have to use actual book titles and you can use no fewer than 4 book spines/titles. You can either take a picture of your creation and then send it to glenboro@nullwmrl.ca or you can use one of the contest sheets which can be found at the library or Post Office. Deadline is Thursday, October 25th at 5 p.m.
